Obasanjo sends letter to PDP withdrawing from party activities


All these drama with our politicians, leaders and political parties is becoming quite silly. They all just seem so confused. One of the founding members of the ruling party and former Nigerian president, Olusegun Obasanjo has sent a letter to the National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, where he gave a notice of his withdrawal from activities of the party. In the letter, Obasanjo said although he is still a card carrying member of the party, he will withdraw his activities with PDP at local, state, zonal and national level until a person he describes as a criminal wanted abroad to face criminal charges is removed as the party's South West zonal leader. Obasanjo proceeded to add that he was forwarding with the letter, “recent documents” on the alleged activities of the person. The letter, dated January 7th, was obtained by Tribune. Wole Soyinka's daughter, Iyetade Soyinka, laid to rest



The remains of the second daughter of Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka, Iyetade Soyinka was laid to rest today Friday January 10th in Ibadan. A service held at the Chapel of the Resurrection, University of Ibadan, while the interment took place at the Ultimate Gardens, a private cemetery. Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, Ogun state officials, family and friends attended the burial. Iyetade died Dec 28th after a brief illness

Bill Gates, Obama, the Pope are the World's Most Admired People


The world's richest man and Microsoft chairman Bill Gates is the most admired person in the world, followed by US President Barack Obama, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Pope Francis and Indian cricket player Sachin Tendulkar, the London Times reports, citing a poll. Gates scored highly in each of the 12 countries where YouGov conducted polling and was the most popular in China. Putin’s popularity among Russians helped him secure third place on the list, the newspaper reported. YouGov surveyed 14,000 people in the U.K., France, Germany, Russia, the U.S., Australia, Pakistan, Indonesia, India, China, Egypt, Nigeria and Brazil in the poll conducted for the Times, according to the newspaper.

Wole Soyinka's daughter, Iyetade, to be buried Dec. 10th in Ibadan


Wole Soyinka's daughter, Iyetade Verity Soyinka, who passed away on Saturday December 28th after a brief illness at age 48, will be buried on Friday, January 10 in Ibadan, Oyo State. A service of songs will hold on Thursday January 9th while her funeral service will hold at the Chapel of Resurrection, University of Ibadan at 11a.m the next day. She will be laid to rest immediately after. Ms Soyinka is survived by her father and two children, a daughter, Oreofe, and a son, Adeoto.

Kanu Heart Foundation sends four people to India for operation



Kanu Nwankwo's Kanu Heart Foundation sent four heart patients to India for operation on the 26th of December. Kanu says it's the organization's Christmas and New Year gift and wants everyone to pray for a successful operation. Good stuff!
