Strike: ASUU Is Lying, Says FG

The Federal Government has accused the Academic Staff Union of
Nigerian Universities (ASUU) of being economical with the truth on
lecturers prolonged industrial action in the universities.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youth and Students
Matters, Com. Jude Imagwe, stated that the claim by the union that its
action was to restore infrastructural decay in universities was
nothing but a lie, noting that ASUU was fighting for allowances.
Imagwe was speaking in Abuja when he received some youth groups, who
were on a visit to his office. His words: "They initially told us that
it was about infrastructure, but it is about allowances.
N30b has been released for the payment of their accumulated
allowances, and N100b earmarked for infrastructural development. It is
important for the public to know that government did not say this is
all that it will give, but government says go and start the payment
with this amount and let us know the amount it will add".
Meanwhile, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU,
will tomorrow join ASUU on strike as the union said it has mobilized
its members across the country to embark on industrial action over
alleged stoppage of their salaries for two months. SSANU, in a letter,
dated 27 September, 2013, and addressed to its branch chairmen in all
the universities in the country, directed its members to stay away
from work from tomorrow until the salaries are fully paid.
The President of SSANU, Comrade Samson Ugwoke, said the strike will be
total, while the General Secretary, who signed the letter directing
members to stay at home from tomorrow, Comrade Promise Adewusi, said
no member should go back to work until a counter directive was given.
Adewusi stated that the union took the decision following its letters
to the vice-chancellors in universities, the Secretary to the
Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, Ministers of
Labour and Productivity, Chief Emeka Wogu and Education, Nyesom Wike,
as well as the Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission,
Prof. Julius Okojie. In the meantime, the suspended strike by the
Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) is to resume on Friday.
The union alleged insincerity and failure of the Federal Government to
honour agreement entered with the union.
The union also passed a vote of no confidence on the National Board
for Technical Education (NBTE), alleging that the board has failed to
meet the needs and demands of polytechnic education in the country.

Moyes dejected after defeat

Manchester United boss David Moyes was disappointed with his side
after West Brom netted a shock 2-1 victory at Old Trafford.
After getting back to winning ways in the Capital One Cup against
Liverpool on Wednesday night, United were expected to comfortably
secure another home victory over the Baggies in the Premier League on
Saturday.
But a solid Baggies defensive display, along with some impressive
counter-attacking football, proved too much for the Red Devils to
handle, and Moyes felt his side got what they deserved.
"Disappointing performance, disappointing result. We never really got
up to speed," Moyes said.
"We had a few chances, but West Brom held their shape and defended well.
"They always looked a threat on the break, in the first half
especially and even more so in the second half.
"We missed that spark and West Brom deserved it no question. I can't
argue with that."
The United manager introduced Adnan Januzaj at half-time in place of
Shinji Kagawa, but the change had little effect on proceedings.
"I just tried to find another way, change things from the first half,"
Moyes explained.
"We want Shinji to feel he's getting an opportunity to show what he
can do and his best position may be number 10.
"But even for Japan he plays off the left as well so it's not
something which is strange to him or a position he's not used to.
"I thought young Adnan came on and did really well.
"I have a strong team here at United, some good players, so I am in no
doubt we will put it right.
"We will just go out and try and win the next one."

Forever Arsenal for Wenger

Arsene Wenger is ready to sign a new deal at Arsenal and says he wants
to see out his years at the club he loves.
The Frenchman has been at the Gunners helm since 1996 but eight years
without a trophy had heightened speculation he could finally step down
when his current deal expires next summer.
Wenger has previously kept coy on his contractual situation, admitting
this season could determine his fate.
But the Frenchman says an impassioned show of support from majority
shareholder Stan Kroenke of the eve of his 17th anniversary has come
as a huge confidence boost.
"I'm very honoured to have the support of Stan Kroenke," said Wenger.
"That he thinks I can help the club is a huge confidence vote. That is
something that is very positive for me.
"I've had consistent support from inside the club. I'm very grateful
because during my 17 years we have had ups and downs. They have always
shown faith in me.
"I would love to be here forever because that would make me immortal!
I love this club.
"I've turned down many offers (over the years). I've always thought
this club is special. We have a team now that can compete and that's
what we want to show.
"If I am still here today it is because I got that consistent support
from inside the club.
"The good thing with me, if I have one quality, (it is that) you don't
need a lot of talks to extend the contract I have.
"I want to focus on the quality of our season. I don't believe that
anybody can question my commitment to this club.
"I want to feel that I do well and then the question of me staying
will be secondary after that."
The Gunners manager remained relaxed about the continuing negotiations.
He added: "(We will do it) when we find time. I don't think that is
the most important problem at the moment."
American Kroenke had earlier told the Daily Telegraph of Wenger:
"There's no one I feel more strongly about and I think he is doing a
great job.
"We have been very supportive, we have never wavered, we are proud of
him, proud of the club, the way the club is run and how it holds
itself out to the world."

Jose hits back at Villas-Boas

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has hit back at former colleague Andre
Villas-Boas for revealing that they have fallen out.
Tottenham manager Villas-Boas - who learnt his trade under the Chelsea
manager during his time at Porto, Internazionale and Stamford Bridge -
has revealed he no longer considers Mourinho a friend.
Mourinho said: "I don't discuss this with the media, it's a personal
thing. I don't care what he says. I'm not here to do that. I'm not
interested."
Mourinho contrasted his relationship with his Portuguese compatriot to
that with Louis van Gaal, whom he worked under at Barcelona before
steering his Inter side to beat a Bayern Munich team managed by the
Dutchman in the 2010 Champions League final.
"I managed in a Champions League final against a manager who was
important in my career and taught me to grow up and I did it in a
professional way. And that is a way you have to do it," he said.
"I have had so many assistants in my career. I was always an open book
to them and with the coaches in the academy. Will I go for a glass of
wine with him? When people invite me I always go. I never refuse.
"But I have nothing more to say on this."
While Mourinho refused to be drawn on his frosty relationship with
Villas-Boas, there would appear to have been a rapprochement in his
dealings with Juan Mata.
The Spaniard has had limited opportunities this season but was handed
a rare start in the Capital One Cup win at Swindon this week.
"I liked the way Juan Mata played against Swindon," said Mourinho.
"His attitude is very good and his effort was good.
"When a player makes an effort to come in my direction then I go to
him as well. I can imagine from now him working into my way of
thinking and I think the natural tendency will for him to be in the
team."

Don’t fall for it! 17 backhanded compliments guys give women

1. "You got a promotion! That's adorable."
Unless you work at a baby kitten factory, and it therefore is
literallyadorable, this is not acceptable behavior.
2. "You're so cool, how are you still single?"
Because my Coolness is an ever-expanding supernova, enveloping and
destroying every potential mate in its path, that's why. Fuckface.
3. "You're not like the hot but totallycrazygirls I date."
Translation: "You're not one of those passionate, smoldering, exciting
'Have an argument about politics that segues into awesomeMr. And Mrs.
Smithangry sex up against a wall' girls I will remember for my entire
life. You're more the "Hey sweetie, can you pick up my Preparation H
on the way home from work?" type.
4. "You have such a pretty face!"
But I want to throw holy water on the rest of your hideous body, you
disgusting beautiful-headed demon-woman.
5. "You look healthy, I love your curves."
If you have solid self-confidence, this is a regular (and awesome)
compliment. If you're conscious of your weight, this is like your
heart being metaphorically nut-cracked between Nicki Minaj's
buttcheeks.
6. "You look so great I didn't even recognize you!"
"As opposed to the snaggle-toothed feral child I steel myself to see
when we make plans to hang."
7. "You're a good driver for a woman."
Weird, because I am steering with my vagina, just like all the other women do.
8. "You finally look as good as you did when I first met you!"
9. "Really?
You don't look like you would [watch Scorsese movies] [enjoy NASCAR
racing] [be good at fantasy football.]"You don't look like someone who
enjoys being called Miss Lucy in public. Oh, youdon't?Why not, Miss
Lucy?
10. "I love that I don't have to try around you"
Cool, next time we go out to dinner why don't you wear old man
sweatpants and roll around in human waste and fart at the table.
11. "You're pretty for a [black/Latina/Asian/overweight/Jewish/etc.] girl."
KMS. Actually, no — KYS.
12. "I don't even think of you as a girl."
That's because I'm not. I'm just wearing a full-body girl suit. I've
actually been a huge ferret this whole time.
13. "You're single because you're too picky."
"You should aim more on your level, like the crazy guy who hangs out
outside the local YMCA trying to smoke discarded cigarette butts."
14. "You look so cute with straight hair!"
I'm glad I have to get a $70 blowout from a severe Serbian woman who
rips half my hair out to be considered attractive to you.
15. "You're not the wifing-up type."
Thus marginalizing you to the category of "chill sex buddy" or "woman
I call when my wife is out of town." (But has he seen your hair
straight yet!!?! *jumps off bridge*)
16. "You look so great on Instagram."
That "fix my ugly-ass face" filter works wonders, huh.
17. "I like how you're not obsessed with how you look."
Actually it takes me hours to look like I don't give a shit about how
I look, but thanks.

DESPICABLE: This woman killed her 2 newborn babies so she could visit swingers’ club for sex (PICTURED)

A German nymphomaniac who allegedly killed her two newborns so she
could go to a swinger club for more sex has been arrested after the
corpses of her babies were found by her father.
Steffie Koppers, 24, bragged repeatedly about her visits to the sex
club Kali on her Facebook page.
In one, she wrote: 'I'm in the swingerclub Kali. We are three nice
ladies but we want men and there are none here!'
Another reads: 'It seems it's bad when a solo woman goes to a swinger
club to get gratification from more than one man.'
Police believe Koppers, who worked for a local tourism authority,
became pregnant with the babies she killed through her sex encounters
at the club in Kamp Lintfort. One of the deaths occurred in November
last year.
She lived on a remote farm with her father at Weeze near Duesseldorf.
On Tuesday this week, when she was at work, her father Heinz made the
terrible discovery of the baby corpses in the home they shared.
One was reduced to a skeleton, the other wrapped in a sheet.
He telephoned the police who arrested his daughter at her place of work.
Murder commission head Gerd Hoppmann said: 'She admitted what happened
but not comprehensibly able to tell us exactly why.'
Police sources said she was 'addicted' to going to the club and didn't
want the babies around to 'bother' her.
One cousin told the Bild newspaper: 'She was obese. We suspected on
more than one occasion that she was pregnant but she denied
everything.'
The Kali sex club charges men up to £65 a time to enter but women get
in for less than £10.
A club spokesman was unavailable for comment although media reports
said police are talking to the clientele to try to find the identities
of the men who fathered the killer's children.

NASU Threatens To Join ASUU Strike From Next Week

As the strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of
Universities (ASUU) in the nation's tertiary institutions enters its
fourth month, the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and
Associated Institutions (NASU) has indicated its resolve to embark on
its own indefinite strike next week.
Speaking at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the trade
union in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Tuesday, NASU's general
secretary, Prince Peters Adeyemi, said members of the union had not
been paid for two months, despite working to keep university system
running during the ongoing ASUU strike.
" NASU will commence its own strike next week, because we have been
working and government has refused to pay our salary. For us, it does
not make sense to continue to keep the system running when we are not
being paid. The reason for this is not known to us.
Government has not paid our salary for August and today is September
24; they are owing us two months' salary and there is no way we can
continue to do this work on empty stomach, while they run round the
globe on full stomach," he said.

Tragic news: Ghanaian lawyer hangs himself in his office, leaves suicide note (PHOTO) Posted by FEATURESEDITOR

Body of the late lawyer being taken into an ambulance. Inset… The
lawyer before his death. PHOTO: Graphic Online
A 44-year-old lawyer, Kofi Yawson-Adjei, yesterday committed suicide
by hanging himself.
According to Ghanaweb.com, Yawson-Adjei, who is the Secretary of the
Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GIS) and valuers, hanged himself in
his private office on the first floor of a rented premises at
Adabraka.
The father of three is said to have left his Kokomlemle residence
about 3 a.m. for his office (in a taxi), where the incident took
place.
He left a written note directing a lady named Narh to give a signed
cheque for GH¢3,000 to his wife.
Yawson-Adjei was with the Valuation Estate and Surveying Division of
the GIS and was Chief Executive Officer of Property Lane Limited.
When the Daily Graphic team got to the scene about 11 a.m., pockets of
residents had gathered discussing the issue.
Personnel from the Homicide Unit of the Ghana Police Service were also
at the scene to convey the body to the Police Hospital mortuary.
The elder sister of the deceased would not allow members of the media
to enter the office where the deceased was found hanging.
A picture captured on a mobile phone, however, showed the deceased
wearing a white T-shirt and a red boxer's shorts and hanging from the
ceiling with a rope around his neck.
The Chairman of the Valuation Estate Surveying Division of the GIS, Mr
Emmanuel Martey, who was at the scene of the incident, told the media
that Yawson-Adjei was with the members of the division who had gone to
Dodowa last Saturday for the marking of scripts of new members who
were being admitted to the institution.
"We had conducted examination for our trainees for admission to
membership, so we decided that we move outside Accra to have time and
concentrate to mark and then do peer review.
"I was marking with him when he began complaining about being blank
and being unable to appreciate what he was marking. I asked him on a
number of occasions to go and rest," he said.
According to Mr. Martey, Yawson-Adjei took the rest and came back
after two hours but still complained of having gone blank.
On Sunday evening, he took Yawson-Adjei to the Valley View University
Hospital for treatment, and on arrival the nurse observed him and said
his blood pressure was very high because he had gone through so much
stress.
"They gave us prescription and I took him back to the hotel. But he
was still weak so we arranged for him to be taken home.
"I called his home this morning (yesterday) to find out his status,
but I was told that something had happened and that he left home
around 3 a.m. Apparently, they did not know where he was until they
discovered him in his own office," he said.
Another source told the Daily Graphic that his wife had called to
inform Yawson-Adjei's elder sister that her brother had left home at
dawn and was nowhere to be found.
"It was when the sister dashed here around 6 a.m. that she discovered
his body hanging," the source said.
A neighbour who pleaded anonymity said he had seen the deceased arrive
at the office building situated behind the CUA Building about 4 a.m.
in a taxi.
"He was in the car for about 10 minutes and then later got out and
went to his office. He was in T-shirt and boxer's shorts," the
neighbour said.
A friend and neighbour of Yawson-Adjei, Mr Dan Agyekum, who was
distraught at the turn of events, said he was yet to understand the
cause of his friend's death.
"Just last Thursday he signed my daughter's university forms," he
said, and added: "I even saw him on Friday and we chatted."
Yawson-Adjei , he said, did not show any sign of having a problem.
The Accra Regional Police Command confirmed the incident.
Mr Emmanuel Larweh, a surveyor who worked with Yawson-Adjei in the
same building, told the Daily Graphic that Yawson-Adjei looked hale
and hearty when he saw him last Friday, 20 September, 2013.
"He even handed over my portion of the scripts to be marked," he said.

Good girl gone (really) bad: Singer, Miley Cyrus poses TOPLESS for Rolling Stone (PHOTOS) Posted by Y! Staff Contributor

Miley Cyrus for the racy cover of the Oct. 10 issue of Rolling Stone magazine.
Miley Cyrus has made it abundantly clear — she's a good girl gone bad.
In yet another stripped down photo shoot, the former Disney darling
bares her birthday suit and famous tongue for the Oct. 10 issue of
Rolling Stone magazine.
The 20-year-old "We Can't Stop" singer is seen leaning up against the
edge of a pool completely nude with her arms folded barely covering
her cleavage.
The risqué image gives the illusion that she just took a skinny-dipped
swim as her hair is wet and black eyeliner is smeared under her eyes.
Miley Cyrus performing onstage in a barely there outfit during the
iHeartRadio Music Festival at the MGM Grand Garden Arena over the
weekend in Las Vegas.
Cyrus addressed her new sexed-up persona and her controversial VMA
performance to Rolling Stone just four days after the show saying,
"People are like, 'Miley thinks she's a black girl, but she's got the
flattest ass ever.' I'm like, I'm 108 pounds! I know!"
"Now people expect me to come out and twerk with my tongue out all the
time. I'll probably never do that s–t again."
She explained she " wasn't trying to be sexy" when she provocatively
danced up on "Blurred Lines" singer Robin Thicke last month.
"If I was trying to be sexy, I could have been sexy, I can dance a lot
better than I was dancing."
She leaves very little to the imagination. Miley Cyrus in a white
see-through outfit at the iHeartRadio Music Festival Saturday in Las
Vegas.
Cyrus, who just announced her split with fiancé Liam Hemsowrth, talked
about her frinedships with fellow musicians such as Pharrell Williams,
Lil Kim and Justin Bieber, whom she said she wants to "mentor."
She also chatted to the music mag about her relationship with Kanye
West and revealed he payed her a visit before she took the stage at
the MTV Video Music Awards.
"He (comes) in and goes, 'There are not a lot of artists I believe in
more than you right now.' The whole room went quiet. I was like, 'Yo —
can you say that again?!'" she recalled of their encounter.
"I just kept repeating that over and over in my mind, and it made me
not nervous."
No, she won't stop. Miley Cyrus performing onstage during the iHeart
Radio Music Festival Village on Saturday.
The two reportedly got together to record a remix of his track "Black
Skinhead," the same night as the VMAs, and Cyrus went on to speak very
fondly of West.
She dished that the 36-year-old rapper bought her five pairs of Celine
slippers after she mentioned hers were falling apart.
"Kanye is the s–t. I kind of have a good relationship with him now," she said.
"It's good to have someone you can call and be like, 'Yo, do you think
I should wear this?' 'Do you think I should go in the studio with this
guy?' 'Do you think this is cool?' That's what homies are supposed to
do."
Cyrus' new album, "Bangerz," hits stores Oct. 8.

Strike Will Improve Education Sector – ASUU Posted by: folusoon September 24, 2013

The President, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Dr Nasir
Fagge, said on Tuesday that the current strike by lecturers of public
universities in the country was a sacrifice for better things to come.
Fagge told Journalists in Lagos that unless the deficits in the
education sector, especially the university system, were addressed
once and for all, there would be no development.
Lecturers, under the aegis of ASUU, had on June 30 embarked on what it
had described as comprehensive, total and indefinite strike in public
universities across the country.
The lecturers are asking for the implementation of some aspects of an
agreement they jointly entered into with the Federal government in
2009. According to Fagge, it is regrettable that the strike is
protracted, and that the decision of ASUU to remain adamant until its
demands are fully met can seem uncomfortable and worrisome. He said
that the industrial action was a sacrifice needed to salvage the
entire economy of the country.
"I sincerely want to call on all concerned, especially students and
parents, to bear with us, as well as join hands with us in the
struggle to right the wrongs in our education sector once and for all,
for the good of us all and that of the country.
"I know it is quite a difficult time for us but I also want to state
that what we are doing is for our own good, as well as ensure that
strikes become rare, as a weapon to get things done in our system.
"We also want to ensure that there is sincerity and respect for mutual
agreements by parties in order to attain a common goal for the good of
our dear country," he said. Fagge, however, lauded the supervising
education Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike, for finding time to meet with
the Executive Committee of ASUU, in a bid to find a lasting solution
to the protracted strike.
The unionist also commended the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and
other stakeholders for their concern in attempts to end the strike. He
noted that such was the spirit needed to ensure that nobody felt
cheated and that what the lecturers were asking for was truly for the
advancement of the course of the country.
According to Fagge, with the current attempts by the various
stakeholders, he is optimistic that there will soon be a mutual
understanding between the parties.
"I think with the various meetings we have held with the concerned
stakeholders, I am optimistic that there will soon be a way out and
our demands met, so that in the shortest possible time, we will get
the required development that will make us compete favourably within
the comity of nations.
"For us in the academic communities, we strongly wish government
should look into the deficit of insincerity in our system, teaching
facilities, in order for us to be able to deliver on our mandate.
"Majority of our children and wards in this country do attend these

them study under deplorable conditions, while those who can afford
sending their children abroad feel little or no concern about it," he

On the appointment of ministers to replace the recently sacked ones,

SHAME: Female teacher, 34, accused of having sex with 15-year-old student (PICTURED) Posted in wpzoom Around the Webon September 24

A Bismarck middle school teacher has been charged with having sex with
a 15-year-old student, and she could face up to 15 years in prison, if
convicted.
Susan Duursma, 34, was charged Monday with three counts of corrupting
or soliciting a minor.
Her attorney, Tom Dickson, told The Associated Press that she will
plead not guilty.
Duursma, a physical education teacher at Wachter Middle School, is
accused of a sex act with a 15-year-old boy three times between March
and July, including once at her home and twice in a vehicle, according
to KXMB-TV.
"There's always two sides to every story; sometimes these situations
are a little more complicated than they might appear initially,"
Dickson told the AP. "Susan will get her opportunity to explain her
side of what happened."
South Central District Judge David Reich set Durusma's bond at $1,000
and stipulated that she not have contact with any minors other than
her own child. He didn't set her next court date.
Bismarck Superintendent Tamara Uselman told The Bismarck Tribune that
she received a complaint about Duursma late Thursday, concluded it had
merit and forwarded the information to police on Friday. The school
district has put Duursma on administrative leave while officials
decide what to do.
This was Duursma's seventh year with the Bismarck schools. Her file
has no previous complaints or concerns, Lisa Kudelka, the human
resources manager for Bismarck schools, told the Tribune

EPL Watch: Chelsea go top after derby win, Saints shock Liverpool By Ifreke Inyangon September 21, 2013

Oscar and Mikel scored, as Chelsea recorded a win in five attempts
against Fulham on Saturday.
Jose Mourinho and his men came into the West London derby, without a
win since August 21 and smarting from two successive losses to Everton
and Basel. They were almost behind again in the first half, but Fulham
striker Darren Bent shot tamely at Petr Cech.
Oscar – once again preferred to Juan Mata, who was completely left out
of the squad – scored the Blues first goal in four hours, capitalising
on Stockdale's error to tap in. With five minutes to go, Nigerian
midfielder Mikel Obi made the points safe, bundling home from inside
the box – his first goal in 258 games.

Mourinho – ‘Mata must fight for his place’ By Zezuon September 21, 2013 Pin It

Jose Mourinho has said it is up to Juan Mata to reclaim his position
as the primary playmaker in order to get more playing time or adopt a
new approach and position that will enable him play with Oscar.
The Chelsea coach has finally decided to address the situation with
the English press:
"There are things I cannot speak with you about. It's part of a
process with him, too. One thing is to play with Ramires and Oscar in
the side, them closing each side, and Mata as a No. 10 behind the
striker, clever assists and clever passes, fantastic actions because
he has great talent.
"Another thing is to adapt to the way we want to play. In this moment,
Oscar is my No. 10 and, if somebody tells me that Oscar is not
Chelsea's best player since the beginning of the season, I'd have to
disagree. These are football issues."
When asked whether Mata must dislodge Brazil international Oscar at
present, Mourinho said: "Yes."
He added: "They can [play together], when he adapts to it. But I'm not
ready to play Oscar following full-backs, because he plays in that
position for the country with more talented players than anyone else
in the world in that position. I want to build with Oscar as my No.
10. I want the other two players, from the side, to adapt to that
reality and learn now to do things that they were not ready to do
before."
Chelsea insiders claim that this doesn't mean the manager is willing
to sell the Spainard, he just doesn't want to reveal his tactical
secrets.
Mourinho also stated that he does not intend to use Inter Milan's
approach against Barcelona again.
The infamous 2009-10 semi-final saw the Italian side resort to a
negative approach, blocking out Barca in order to win 3-2 on aggregate
and eventually become champions.
"You need an adaptation, not only psychologically but also physically.
If you sit there deep in a low block, with no spaces, you can be there
three hours. I went with Inter to Barcelona and, for 60 minutes, we
played with ten men and if we needed to be there longer we'd have
played for another 60 minutes. I don't want my team to play like
that."
Mourinho stated that was part of a new proactive approach that had
been agreed with Roman Abramovich.
"We don't want to be reactive. We want to be proactive, and to educate
the players in this direction," he said. "We had one meeting — not
five, ten, 20 — but one, and in that meeting we had not an agreement
but we were all convinced this was the way we want to do it. This is
the way we want to do it.
"I really don't want new players in January. I don't want. But at the
end of the season, as a natural evolution, we will find these players
can make us better — one here, one there.
"The project is beautiful. We had two very ugly results — we don't
like [them], we are not used to them… it's a problem for us. But I
accept criticism.
"Mr Abramovich is the owner of the club, my boss. But, directly and
indirectly, we are in contact every week. Not to say many times, but I
explain what I'm doing because that's part of my job. You do that in
your job, and I do that here. I always did. Is he upset with the
results? I hope so."

Why President Jonathan Fired Special Advisers Posted by: niyion September 21, 2013

Indications emerged last night President Goodluck Jonathan was
uncomfortable with his dwindling political fortunes in the National
Assembly despite the control of the two chambers of the national
legislature by his party.
Presidential sources hinted Saturday Vanguard that Jonathan was
particularly irked by the show of shame that erupted on the floor of
the House of Representatives earlier in the week as a result of the
face off between his supporters and opponents in the PDP, which broke
into two last month.
There have been reports that a fat sum of money, which was meant to be
disbursed to sympathetic lawmakers was not properly distributed
thereby infuriating those who made the money available.
Some lawmakers were said to have receive a paltry $25,000 instead of
$100,000 said to have been earmarked for them.
The wrong application of the money is said to have been partly
responsible for the free-for-all on the floor of the House of
Representatives during the week.
The source said that Jonathan was compelled to fire his Special
Adviser on National Assembly Matters, Sen. Joy Emordi, because of her
perceived weakness and inability to influence the lawmakers in his
favour.
The Presidency is said to have complained that Emordi had not been
able to exert her position on the legislature and attract the
requisite respect and support from majority of the members for
Jonathan since her engagement about two years ago.
Presidential strategists pondered why the 'opponents' of the President
appeared to be gaining more attention in the NASS in spite of the
position of Emordi and hordes of other officials working for the
President.
A source said, "It is clear to Mr. President that Emordi's presence
has not earned him the needed leverage in the legislature as many
members continue to work against his interest despite the fact that
they are from the dame party.
"She (Emordi) has clearly demonstrated through a lackluster perforce
that she cannot build the required bridge between the President and
the lawmakers and she had to go," the source said.
It was learnt last night that the Presidency was already shopping for
a more fiery northern politician, who would not only be able to
attract the necessary political clout but also be able to mobilise
support for the President.
Olagunju on the other hand is said to have failed to move NEPAD from
its precarious state since his appointment and had to be booted out by
the Presidency.
"NEPAD under Olagunju was dead and was only waiting for its final
burial," a source in the agency lamented, saying that the man had even
outlived his usefulness.
Reacting to the development yesterday, Senator Joy Emodi in between
receiving calls from serving legislators and well wishers expressed
thanks to the president and the legislators for the support given her
in the course of her assignment.
"I thank the president and all the legislators for the opportunity
given to me to work with them."
Senator Emodi was appointed to the position in 2011 and walked the
difficult path of forging cordiality between the administration and
the often skeptical National Assembly.
She was able to win the confidence of the legislators despite the hard
feelings felt towards some elements in the administration. [Vanguard]

Ronaldo hits Real hat-trick

Cristiano Ronaldo hit a hat-trick as Real Madrid ran riot in the
second half against Galatasaray to make a major statement about their
ambitions in the Champions League.
Although Galatasaray started strongly, they crumbled after Isco made
the breakthrough late in the first half as Ronaldo and Karim Benzema
feasted on some poor defending.
Gareth Bale started the match on the bench, but came on midway through
the second half and created one of Ronaldo's goals.
There was a late consolation for the hosts from Umut Bulut, but it was
not enough to bring even a flicker of emotion to the face of
disconsolate coach Fatih Terem, who started the night full of hope but
ended it with his team in tatters.
Galatasaray started in lively fashion, with Burak Yilmaz testing Iker
Casillas in only the second minute, the Madrid captain at full stretch
to force his powerful effort away for a corner.
Casillas was starting ahead of Diego Lopez after being told by coach
Carlo Ancelotti that he would play in Europe while deputising in La
Liga, but his night soon came to a premature end when he took an elbow
to the ribs in the 13th minute.
He initially tried to play on with heavy bandaging, but after one
attempted clearance he signalled to come off.
Lopez was soon busy too, holding Felipe Melo's close-range header from
Yilmaz's free-kick.
Moments later, Madrid appealed for a penalty. Benzema did well to keep
the ball in on the touchline before pulling it back to Ronaldo, who
tumbled over the outstretched leg of Dany Nounkeu only to see his
appeals ignored by Mark Clattenburg.
As play continued, Angel Di Maria curled an effort over the bar.
Galatasaray were still looking threatening, with Wesley Sneijder close
to picking out Yilmaz in front of goal after springing the offside
trap, before Felipe Melo's superb header was kept out by an equally
good save from Lopez.
But it was Madrid who struck in the 33rd minute when Isco's
outstanding first touch to Di Maria's long ball allowed him to split
the defence and score off the inside of the left-hand post.
Things got worse for Galatasaray when Didier Drogba collapsed under a
rough challenge from Pepe just as an already lengthy spell of added
time was beginning.
In all, six additional minutes were played, highlighted by a Ronaldo
shot parried by Fernando Muslera Drogba failed to reappear for the
second half and, without him, Galatasaray struggled to contain Madrid.
Ronaldo's fierce early shot beat Muslera, who needed Nounkeu to hook
it off the line, but moments later a defensive mix-up allowed Benzema
to run free and finish with ease.
Yilmaz then missed a free header and a chance to put the hosts back in
the contest, and Madrid punished him with two quick goals from Ronaldo
to end the contest.
Neither was pretty. The first came when Galatasaray failed to deal
with Di Maria's cross and Ronaldo was able to rifle home from Isco's
knock-back, the second when the Portugal forward lashed home the
rebound from a free-kick taken by record signing Bale, on as a
substitute moments earlier.
Bale then tested Muslera with a shot of his own which was pushed
clear, but it was Benzema who added the fifth, poking into an empty
net after Ronaldo drew the goalkeeper from his line before flicking
the ball across.
For the Galatasary fans who stuck it out, there was a little something
to cheer when the slightest of touches from Bulut diverted Nordin
Amrabat's cross into the goal, but Ronaldo had the final word as he
completed his hat-trick with a couple of stepovers and a vicious
finish as added time began.

SHOCKING: How I delivered a baby in my room and killed him with N40 rat poison – Woman Posted in wpzoom Around the Webon

A four-day-old baby boy has been gruesomely murdered by his own mother
who fed him with a N40 rat poison. Binta Shuaibu, 20, conspired with
her friend, Hindatu Umar, 27, to commit the dastardly act in Dan
Amarya village, Danja Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The mother and her co-conspirator are now answering to the wicked act
in police custody.
What could make a mother willfully kill her own baby? The suspect,
Binta tells her story "I was born in Layin-Ruwa, Kafur Local
Government Area Katsina State. I got married 11years ago and my
husband, Inusa later forced me to divorce him. I have only one son,
Aminu for him.
"After the divorce, I decided to go into prostitution. The money I got
from prostitution is what I use to feed my father in the village. My
father had divorced my mother because my mother begged him to allow me
to return to my former husband, but my father rejected the advice. My
father divorced my mother because of that.
"While engaged in prostitution, I suddenly had an unwanted pregnancy,
which I did not terminate. I was able to conceal the pregnancy and
successfully had the baby boy delivered in my room.
"The ward head, Maiunguwa in the village where I was doing
prostitution had warned all prostitutes not to have unwanted
pregnancy, and that anyone who got pregnant must relocate to any
nearby village to deliver and care for the baby there.
"But because of the warning by village head, I was at a loss to what
to do with the baby and my calling as a prostitute.
"My good friend, Hindatu Umar suggested that since we do not want to
stop prostitution, we should kill the baby. We both went into the
street and bought rat poison for N40 and used it to kill the baby."
Asked how the baby was actually killed, Binta said, "It was about
midnight that the act was carried out. I told my friend, Hindatu that
I would not want to witness the killing of my own child.
"Hindatu was the one who fed my baby with the poison. She forced him
to drink the poison. When she wanted to do it, I went into the other
room and took a drug, Valium 5 and slept off. I woke up to see that my
baby was dead. We wrapped the dead body with clothes."
News of the heinous crime soon filtered out and the partners in crime
were apprehended.
Binta spoke further, "Unknown to us, the ward head had heard about the
news that my baby was killed. He quickly went to Danja Police Station,
reported the incident and we were arrested by the police."
In her own confession, Hindatu Umar said, "I am a prostitute. My
friend, Binta delivered a baby boy and we have a law by the ward head
in the village of Danja that he doesn't want any unwanted pregnancy
and that any of us prostitutes who gets pregnant should leave the
village and deliver the baby in the next village.
"We still enjoy our job as prostitutes and so, we both decided to kill
the baby. I suggested to her to kill the baby. We went into the street
and bought local rat killer and by midnight I gave the baby the poison
and he drank the poison and died instantly. I took the container and
dropped it in the toilet. Later the news spread and policemen from
Danja Police Station arrested us."
Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Hurdi told Sunday
Sun that "it was when the news spread the following morning that the
ward head reported the incident to Danja Police Station and this led
to the arrest of the two suspects, Binta Shuaibu and Hindatu Umar who
are currently at the State CID under investigation."
CP Hurdi added that the baby had been buried, while the mother of the
baby, Binta and her partner, both of whom conspired to commit the
murder, would face the wrath of the law.
The commissioner said after investigation had been concluded, the
suspects would be charged to court.

As you may see below, Barcelona is the only club in the World which
puts 5 players in the top 20 highest paid football players list. If we
sum those 5 players wages (Lionel Messi,Xavi,Andres Iniesta,David
VillaandDaniel Alves), we notice that Barcelona is spending around
3.250.000 euros monthly (3 million and 250 million euros ~ 4.647.500
US Dollars ~ 2.867.000 British pounds), in wages for those 5 key
players. That's an interesting curiosity as there seems to be a myth
that the big spenders are always Real Madrid, Chelsea or Manchester
City, but it turns out to be that Barcelona is actually leading in the
aggregated analysis, when considering exclusively the top 20 list.

Mourinho baffled by defeat

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was left baffled by his side's failure
to make their dominance count as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat to
Everton at Goodison Park.
The Stamford Bridge side had missed a host of chances, with Samuel
Eto'o and Andre Schurrle particularly culpable, when Steven Naismith
headed home the only goal of the game in the 45th minute.
Chelsea pushed Everton back for the vast majority of the second period
but could not find a way beyond Tim Howard, despite their possession
and the opportunities they created.
Mourinho told Sky Sports: "I don't know if I have to say we didn't
deserve to lose, or if I should say we deserved to lose.
"We didn't deserve it (to lose) because we were the best team, because
we play the best football, because we dominate the whole game, because
we had 21 shots, because we risk everything we could...
"In that sense it is fair to say we deserved to win the game.
"But the other way, a team that has 21 shots, some of them easy shots
and easy situations to score and we don't score and we have a mistake
in the last minute of the first half...
"Maybe with that I should say we deserve to lose."
Mourinho would not pin the blame on Eto'o, who was making his Premier
League debut following his summer switch from Anzhi Makhachkala.
"It was not just him. I think Schurrle has missed three big chances to
score, other players also had chances, but I don't like to be
critical," he added.
"I prefer to analyse the game with the two perspectives I told you before."
And the Blues boss refused to be drawn on Chelsea's penalty appeal in
the second half when Oscar went down following a challenge from
Sylvain Distin and Leon Osman.
He said: "If I comment I am punished, if I comment I am criticised, so
I prefer not to comment."

Ronaldo extends Real deal

Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed an extension to his contract with Real
Madrid, the La Liga giants have confirmed.
The Portugal forward will appear alongside Real president Florentino
Perez at a press conference later today at the Santiago Bernabeu,
where details of Ronaldo's new deal are expected to be announced.
Reports in the Spanish media suggest that the former Manchester United
ace has agreed terms on a new three-year extension to his deal, which
would commit him to the club until the summer of 2018.
It has also been reported that Ronaldo's salary has been increased to
around 17m euros per year.
The 28-year-old had been linked with a move away from the Bernabeu
following the arrival of Gareth Bale during the summer transfer
window.
The 100m-euro fee Real paid to Tottenham for the Wales winger eclipsed
the previous world-record of 94m euros they splashed out to lure
Ronaldo away from Manchester United in 2009.
Ronaldo has scored a remarkable 203 goals in 203 appearances for the
Spaniards, helping them secure the King's Cup in 2011 and the La Liga
title in the 2011/12 season.
Sky Sports' Spanish football expert Guillem Balague says that Ronaldo
had agreed the extension in the summer, but wanted to wait before
signing the deal.
When asked if the deal was a reaction to Real's world record signing
of Bale, Balague told Sky Sports News: "Not exactly.
"He will renew his contract until 2018 and he will be the best-paid
player in Spain, above Messi, on €17m (£14.2m) net, so we are entering
a new phase of wage structures here.
"Obviously, there were one or two things that Cristiano Ronaldo had to
make sure before he actually signed the contract, a contract that was
agreed in the summer around mid-July.
"Florentino Perez said in L'Equipe that Ronaldo was going to stay at
Real Madrid forever and he knew it because everything had been agreed,
just not signed.
"Ronaldo wanted to see two things. No.1, the submission of the club to
him in the sense that he wanted to feel as important as possible as
the No.1, and I think he's felt that in the last few months.
"No.2, he wanted to see Bale coming and if he was going to earn more
money than him, and if Real Madrid were going to pay more money for
Bale than they paid for Cristiano.
"Well, Bale will earn less than €17m for sure, but this is where it
gets funny as Real have always said they paid €91m for Bale, which is
less than the €96m they paid for Cristiano, but in fact they paid
€101m, so they were trying to twist the truth a little so that
Cristiano didn't get upset."

"we were a bit lucky"Wenger Admit after 3 - 1 over Sunderland

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, has admitted that his team were probably
lucky to have defeated Sunderland 3-1 at the Stadium of Light.
The Gunners took the lead in the 11th minute, after debutant Mesut
Ozil slipped in a fine pass for Olivier Giroud to score. Sunderland
equalised through Craig Gardener, before Aaron Ramsey grabbed a brace
to settle matters.
However, Martin Atkinson disallowed a Jozy Altidore's goal, shortly
before Ramsey wrapped up the win.
Wenger said: "We were a bit lucky at 2-1 maybe, but we found the
mental resources to win.
"It could have been a foul for us as well because Altidore took Sagna
as well but the referee blew before the goal, I was sure of that
because I saw him."

J. Martins Blasts Wizkid Over “Broke” Fan Comment (You have no business in music)

J.martins in a recent interview on Hot Fm 98.3 Abuja reacted to
Wizkid's outburst after he (Wizkid) was told by a fan he needed to go
back to school for his poor use of tenses. Wizkid had lashed back
calling the writer a 'broke fan'.
READ after cut:
J Martins on the show said 'I'm not taking any side, don't mean no
beef, no disrespect, and no hate but let the truth be told. I don't
believe because you feel you have a few change you didn't have a few
years ago and which you cannot guarantee having in a few years to come
then you wake up and look at those people who have cheered you up,
loved you, supported your music, bought your CD's, prayed for you,
just because you can lay your hands on some phone and you call them
'poor'. Am not in and will never be in support of anyone who has such
bad attitude.
"It needs to be corrected, we owe our fans the duty of being good
examples that's why they hold us in high esteem, that's why you are a
role model and if you know you cannot be a good role model you have no
business in Music. You don't know if it's that person that might help
you tomorrow, whoever does that should be checked.
"You have to decide why you are in the music industry. If you know you
cannot be a role model then you have no business being there"
Wizkid had written "Broke people always think they have an opinion" to
a fan on his instagram page, after erroneously typing 'i have an
hangover' just as he was about to perform at a wedding ceremony,
leading to this fan to reply 'you see why you have to go back to
school'
Wizkid had been immediately immersed in retaliatory tweets from angry
fans as soon the instagram exchange went viral. J.Martins is the first
celebrity to make his comments on the issue.

Bale hoping for debut start

Gareth Bale has revealed he is hoping to start for Real Madrid on
Saturday despite his lack of match action.
The world's most expensive footballer spent a second day training with
his new team-mates on Thursday ahead of the weekend trip to
Villarreal.
Bale has had just 31 minutes of competitive action this season - a
substitute appearance in Wales' defeat to Serbia this week - and his
national manager Chris Coleman has said the player is not ready to
play 90 minutes.
But, speaking at a launch of Real's third kit, the 24-year-old
insisted he will be ready to answer Carlo Ancelotti's call on
Saturday.
"I feel good," he said. "I have been training in the last week with
Wales. I have had two good sessions today and I got half an hour with
Wales on Tuesday.
"Obviously I am a bit behind everyone else physically, but I am
hopeful I can catch up as soon as possible.
"I think you will have to wait until the match to see whether I am
picked or not. Hopefully I can get my fitness up straight away and
hopefully get a place in the team."
Bale has been warned by Barcelona's Gerard Pique that it may take a
while to find his feet in the Bernabeu dressing-room.
But the £86million man, whose fee eclipsed the £80m paid to Manchester
United for Cristiano Ronaldo, says his welcome has been a warm one.
"It was amazing," he said. "He (Ronaldo) is a nice guy, and he made me
feel welcome just like everyone else. I am just looking forward to
getting on the pitch and doing well."
Pique earlier told Sky Sports' Fantasy Football Club: "You never know
how he will adapt to a dressing-room like Madrid's with a lot of stars
like Cristiano and (Karim) Benzema.
"I hope he can play well, but we will see. The first month will be
more difficult, then it will be a bit more relaxed.
"Real Madrid is such an immense team - a big, big club. Everyone wants
to know something about the players, about Bale too.
"When you're playing for a great team like Madrid, with a lot of
pressure because you have to win every game, it's a difficult life."
Villarreal v Real Madrid is live on Sky Sports 2 this Saturday,
kick-off 9pm (UK time).

GENEVIEVE BOUGHT A MANSION WORTH OF 200m

Three months after buying a twin duplex in Sangotedo, Lekki, Lagos,
superstar actress Genevieve Nnaji has made another pleasantly
surprising acquisition – a fabulous mansion in the highbrow Park View
Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos.
The Actress who turned 34 on may 3,2013, has already moved into the
new crib, according to NET investigations. 'She is still putting a few
things in place like electronics and fittings, but she's moved in
already' a source privy to the details tells us in anonymity. Before
the recent move, Genny lived in Lekki with bestie Chinny Onwugbenu
Sources say the property may have cost the sexy actress who is one of
Africa's most celebrated actors over N200 million. To avoid the media
exposure, a source says the actress has decided to keep mum on the
deal until she completes the renovation of the newly-purchased house.
'Genny has been very coded about her relocation and has tried to hard
to keep this information from the press because she values her
privacy', one of her friends who spoke with us said.
The new property will be her home for now. We were unable to
immediately confirm if she will move to join her parents in Lekki upon
completion of the Sangotedo property. The actress who on popular US
talk show, Oprah was referred to as Africa's Julia Roberts, only weeks
ago was featured on ELLE's website as one of seven international
superstars who are the 'Next Big Crossover Acts' for 2013.
A spokesperson for the actress refused to comment.
Meanwhile, over the weekend, the actress was in Toronto, Canada for
the premiere of the much-anticipated movie, 'Half of a Yellow Sun'
where she plays Miss Adebayo.
