Saheed Balogun reportedly drags wife fathia to court over name

According to unconfirmed reports, popular actor Saheed Balogun has dragged his ex-wife actress Fathia Balogun to court over the use of his name, Balogun, insisting that she drops it. The two were married for many years before ending their union, which produced three children, a few years ago. Saheed has been trying for years to get Fathia to revert to her maiden name but Fathia has always insisted she made a career using the name and has no plans to ever drop it. "My name is Fathia Balogun and it’s going to remain Balogun for life. Nobody can ever change that or stop me from answering that name" She said in an interview in 2011.Well, now Saheed has reportedly gone to court to get her to drop the name. Man Drowned In Lagoon While Swimming To Win A Bet

A 25-year-old man, Toheeb Jimoh, has drowned in a Lagos river while
reportedly swimming to win a bet. He had allegedly bragged that he
could swim the Lagos Lagoon from a particular point to the shore on
Saturday evening. It was learnt that when some people challenged his
claim, he had allegedly dared them to place a bet. After the bet was
placed, he reportedly went on a boat to the point and jumped into the
lagoon hoping to swim to the shore. Friends of the deceased, who had
accompanied him on a boat, were said to have fled the scene after he
did not make it out of the water.
The incident, which occurred at Aiyedun Street, Bariga, was said to
have caused commotion among residents who trooped to the site, hoping
to save Jimoh. The corpse of Jimoh was said to have been recovered
around 7pm same day and buried beside the water around 12am in line
with the traditions. The deceased had only recently gained admission
into the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta before the tragedy
struck.
A source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said, "He and some of
his friends were actually fond of betting and gambling. So that
evening, they decided to take the betting to another level. Toheeb
told them he could swim from the Third Mainland Bridge end of the
river to the shore. When the boat they took got to that point, which
was a little close to the shore, he gave his clothes to his brother
and jumped into the water. His friends who were in the boat waited for
him at the shore without success. After it dawned on them that
something was amiss, his younger brother raised the alarm. By the time
people got to the scene, he had died."

The Okoyes are currently charging
between N9 and N10 million for a show
within Nigeria.
Apart from information gathered from
the source close to the duo, independent
music promoters/artiste managers also
confirmed this, declaring the Koko
master, D'Banj as the second highest paid
artiste.
The DB Record boss charges between N6
and N7 million as a standard show fee.
"Before the split of Mo'Hits, it used to be
D'Banj.
When D'Banj was charging between N7
and N8 million, P-Square's fee was N5
million", a veteran music manager
affirmed, adding, "Right now, it's P-
Square."
The afro-pop king, 2Face Idibia is the
third highest paid. Although, 2Face's
performance fee has not been consistent,
it's within N5 and N6 million.
Industry sources told ENCOMIUM Weekly
that 2Baba, as he's fondly addressed,
easily adjust fees because of the love he
has for fans. "I agreed that he's the third
because he loves what he knows how to
do best than the money. He's man of the people and
he loves to reach out to the
people. He's always happy when he's on
stage."
Star Boyz owner, Wizkid, who stormed the
industry three years ago, rose to become
the fourth highest paid music star,
collecting between N4 and N5
million. Although, the Jaiye Jaiye artiste
has not featured in any big show in recent times, he
also told ENCOMIUM Weekly in a
recent interview that he
charges N4 to N5 million.
Female singer, Omawumi Megbele is the
highest paid female star. She collects N3
million alongside some male artistes,
including Flavour, Timaya and the rave of
the moment, Olamide. Others are Darey
Art Alade, Duncan Mighty, and Chocolate Music
artistes, M.I and Ice-Prince.
The likes of Kukere crooner, Iyanya,
Davido, Wande Coal and Tiwa Savage are
in the league of artistes that go for N2.5
million, while D'Prince, Dr.Sid and one
time highest earning artiste, 9ice collect
N2 million respectively.
Aside artistes that still receive less than
N1 million, Naeto C and Waje's fee is N1.5
million.
"Basically, each artiste has a standard fee
for gigs, concerts but for private parties
such as birthday, wedding, etc, it varies.
Some people would call for reduction
simply because they are individuals, not
brands. It depends on the artistes whether to accept
or not. What I know is
that it's always fixed", said an artiste
manager.

Ondo State Commissioner, Deji Falae, laid to rest amid tears

Ondo State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Deji Falae, who died in the tragic Associated Airline air crash that killed 15 people on October 3rd was buried today in Akure. The funeral service took place at St David's Anglican Cathedral, Ijomu, Akure. In attendance were Deji's family (wife pictured above) friends, business associates, Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, his wife, and the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon Dare Emiola.

Great news people of Nigeria! The UK government has announced plans to cancel the £3,000 cash bond that visitors from'high risk' countries, including Nigeria, were to put up to enter Britain.Below is the latest update from The Sunday Times UK..

The government is to abandon a controversial plan to impose £3,000 immigration bonds on visitors from “high-risk” countries in Africa and Asia after Nick Clegg threatened to block the policy.

The move will be seen by Labour as a humiliating U-turn for Theresa May, the home secretary. It came after David Cameron backed off from a full-scale confrontation with the Liberal Democrat leader, who was blocking the scheme’s progress through cabinet.

A pilot project to target visitors from seven countries — including India, Pakistan and Nigeria — who would have had to pay a cash guarantee or deposit to deter immigration abuse was to have been introduced this month.

The plan was to make visitors forfeit £3,000 if they failed to return home by the time their visas had expired. But in an announcement this weekend the government said it was canceling the plans

‘ I see nobody as competition,Wizkid is not a threat’ – Davido

In a recent interview with PUNCH, Davido opened-up on his Skelewu video, his relationship with his dad and the competition in the music industry.

He say he is not scared of competition , neither does he see Wizkid as a threat.

See excerpts below:
“Wizkid is not a rival. I see nobody as competition or threat. God is behind me, so I just go into the studio, do my music and everything is fine. I develop and write most of my songs in the studio. I’m not afraid of competition or the fact that some person will just appear on the scene and take the shine. After all, I did it to some people, so I expect that it is something that must happen to everyone because you can’t be shining forever.

But once you are good to others, make good music, have loyal fans, that’s all that matters.
I have plans to go into oil and gas business with my elder brother next year. I want to do music for 10 years. By that time, I will be 30, and free to rest. Some people are just starting out at 30 but I am already a success and threat at 20. Fame at a young age is a plus because I still have like 10 years to ball while some people are just starting at 27 and 30.”
