How Iyanya Amassed Total Of N130Million From Different Endorsement Deals
Pop singer Iyanya Mbuk has amassed over N130 million in endorsements deals in 2013 alone. Since his highly successful 2012 monster hit single 'Kukere', it has been one hit after another, one award after another and one endorsement contract after another for the once impoverished singer.
In the last one year and half, Iyanya has proven that he can be a hit maker disappointing the initial doubts that critics had raised about him
when his 2009 debut album 'My Story' flopped.
Certainly, Iyanya took the lesson of that album and transformed himself into one of the most sought after Nigerian artistes today placing him
on the pedestal where corporate organisations would jostle to do business with him.
Three weeks ago, the singer closed a deal reportedly worth N35 million with mobile phone manufacturing company, SOLO Mobile.
According to his publicist, Wildflower PR, the deal was iced with a brand new 2014 Prado SUV.
Earlier in May, the 27 year old singer was lucky enough to have been included in MTN's swoop of some of the major players in the music industry, becoming one of the company's highest paid brand ambassadors in a N40 million deal.
It sure didn't end there. When Zinox Technologies Limited, manufacturer of Nigeria's first internationally certified branded computers was looking for a face to represent its brand, guess who quickly came to mind? None other than the rave of the moment, Iyanya. The Leo Stan-Ekeh owned tech- company put pen to paper, inked a deal and made Iyanya N56milion richer, according to those familiar with the details of the deal.
These endorsement deals have gone on to show the relevance Iyanya has in today's music scene. Apart from the occasional engagements, the pop star will begin to appear on billboards and TV commercials preaching the gospel of these brands. From all indications, Iyanya, a Business Management graduate of the University of Calabar and winer of the inaugural MTN Project Fame West Africa, has had quite an awesome 2013.
Speaking to NET, Iyanya's partner Ubi Franklin attributes his success and that of the label to God and hardwork. 'All thanks and Glory to God because we are actually living out our dream.
We are where we are today because of hardwork and passion for what we do.' On why Iyanya seems to be a choice for these brands, Franklin says 'I guess they all see the potential in Iyanya. They have seen that Iyanya as a brand can do a lot to promote their own brands. He is one of the hardest working artistes I know and he has worked hard to deserve everything he has earned.'
In less than one year, Iyanya has upgraded his garage with about three exotic cars. Franklin has done the same too, and three months ago, the team acquired a jeep for their artiste and protégé, Nigerian US returnee and singer, Emma Nyra.
The music business is probably one of the most interesting yet difficult businesses in the world and for Iyanya, it's been one great ride with the prospect of many good things to come.

Two arrested for abducting 15-year-old female student
The Vigilance Service of Ogun State has arrested two suspects -Gbenga Adesanya and Sodiq Osanyintola- for allegedly abducting a 15-year-old female secondary school student, Kehinde Owoniko, in Abeokuta, the state capital. The VSO also claimed that the third suspect, Oye Atunbi, escaped arrest and is currently on the run. One shot gun and 11 fake identity cards were allegedly recovered from the suspects. PUNCH Metrogathered that the suspects allegedly abducted Owoniko, a senior secondary school 1 student of Egba High School, Asero, Abeokuta, at gun point when she went to ease herself in the bush behind the school premises. The suspects also allegedly made incisions on the victim’s wrist and chest with a razor blade, before applying some “black powder” on the injury, in an attempt to hypnotise her. Owoniko was later bundled into a car conveying two other victims earlier abducted by the gang. Before driving the victims away to an unknown destination, the suspects were said to have taken the telephone numbers of their parents. Although, the suspects allegedly contacted the parents of the two other victims, Owoniko’s mother’s was said to be unreachable. The parents of the two other victims earlier abducted were said to have contacted the alleged abductors and paid an unspecified amount of money as ransom to secure the release of their children as well as Owoniko. Upon their release, Owoniko allegedly found her way home around 9pm and narrated her ordeal to her already worried parents. The next day, Owoniko’s family lodged a complaint with the VSO whose operatives later stormed the hideout of the hoodlums and arrested the two suspects. Confirming the development, VSO Public Relations Officer, Soji Gamzallo, said, “The girl was tortured. A blade was used to make incision on her wrist and chest and black powder was rubbed into the wounds. A report was later made by the father of the victim at our office. “The victim was eventually brought today and she confirmed the report of her parents.” The VSO spokesman added that after its investigation, the VSO had transferred the suspects to the police in the state for prosecution. Recalling her ordeal, Owoniko said, “I went to the bush to relieve myself during the break time in the school. All of a sudden, two armed men grabbed me and ordered me to cooperate. “They later forced incision on my arm and chest, rubbed it with black power, before transferring me into a waiting car, where I found two other victims. They asked for our parents’ telephone numbers and took off to another hideout. “At the hideout, they called my mother’s telephone but it was not available, while the parents of other victims were contacted. The parents of those ones later came and paid them some amount. They included me and we were later released.”

Ice Prince Reveals Why His Life Took A Dramatic Turn
From humble beginnings in Jos, Plateau State, Chocolate City’s wonder kid, Panshak Zamani popularly known as Ice Prince has grown to be one of the hottest and most respected rappers in the country.
Thanks to his victory at the 2009 Hennessey Artistry where he came tops. And while it may all look rosy on the outside, Ice Prince has revealed that it’s not been easy after his dad passed away, adding that just like any street kid, he’s had his own fair share of ups and downs, and so fans should not be carried away by the glitz and glamour which has become his trade mark today.
Though, born to upper middle class parents, the Oleku singer insists he was not born with a silver spoon, he and his siblings had all they desired until his dad died in 1999 and life took a dramatic turn!
“I wasn’t born with a silver spoon,” Ice Prince told The Entertainer’s TONY OGAGA ERHARIEFE in an exclusive chat backstage during the 8th edition of Julius Agwu’s comedy show, Crack Ya Ribs held at Nicon Hilton, Abuja, recently.
Dressed in all white designer T-shirt and pants with a muffler dangling around his neck, Ice Prince peered at you from behind designer glasses crested with a fez cap which gave him that clean cut look of an American marine but for his goatee.
“My dad was not a billionaire, neither was he a pauper,” he said arching his bushy eyebrows to drive home his point, “he sent us to good schools and we had vacations outside the country; we were okay but in 1999 I lost him!
“It was a big loss for me and my family. I was 13 and the eldest kid; I had a mum and two younger sisters to look out for and so I had to grow up overnight; thank God for family support.”
Recounting the person of his late dad who was a soldier in the Nigerian Army, Ice Prince described him as a great source of inspiration and like every son would say, his father was a great dad. He said dad went the extra mile to make sure he and his siblings had all they wanted.
“He was a soldier,” he states in his characteristic cool and calm voice, “he taught me everything I know today. My mum was very supportive but she died in 2011, so right now I am an orphan.”
How does it feel losing both parents early in life? “It feels lonely! We were three kids; a boy and two girls and I am the eldest. I became the man of the house after my dad passed on and that has given me a sense of responsibility. It made me grow up overnight!
“I am 27 but my responsibilities are more than that of a 27-year-old. I have to take care of my sisters. I thank God for elevating me. I guess I was called to do this (music).”
According to Ice Prince, he would ever be grateful for the lessons he learnt from his parents, which have gone a long way in shaping him today. He says that while his dad taught him to be responsible right from an early age, his mum taught him to respect women.

"Kanye Makes Me Wear 2 Wristwatches" - Dbanj
In this recent interview with HipTv, Dbanj explains why he usually wears two watches at the same time. I actually found his reason funny. He said :
No time to check time. Actually, it's cos I'm too busy, you know, always on the move, you know, one time is on Nigeria, the other is on New York.
So that Kanye West is not calling me and I'm like 'yo, who's this?', you know, I'm always on check!
So I leave it at 2 time zones, that what's up! They are gold anyway.

I Wanted To Be A Nun – BBA Beverly Osu
BBA contestant Beverly Osu revealed in an interview published today that she’d wanted to be a nun but abandoned the vision in her fifth year in a convent school…
Beverly tells Punch
I attended Daughters of Divine Love Convent, Enugu State. I thought I would be a reverend sister but I abandoned the vision when I dropped out in my fifth year. I finished my secondary education in a secular institution before moving to Babcock University. I could not finish from Babcock because I had some personal issues. Again, I dropped and enrolled at the National Open University.
It affected me in a very spiritual way. In as much as I know worldly things, I still fear God and have faith in Him. The reason why I wanted to become a nun was because I was raised in a Catholic home. I just felt it was the best thing for me to do at that time. I used to see myself as a messenger of God. Even though I did not become a nun, I still remain faithful to God. Part of my dreams is to establish a church and do a lot of charity work.

CBN: New Smaller Denomination Notes Out In December
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Friday said that the new smaller denomination notes that will come in paper form would be in circulation before December. Mr Tunde Lemo, Deputy Governor, Operations, said this while briefing newsmen on the sideline of the ongoing Annual meeting of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. The smaller notes are N5, N10, N20 and N50 notes. “The smaller denomination notes are being supplied by the printers and before December, you will no longer see tattered notes all over. “As I said, I have apologised to Nigerians that the reason we had old notes that are still in circulation was because of the issues around Project Cure. “We had earlier thought last year that we will transmit to a better note family which we code-named Project Cure. “But because of the issues around N5,000 notes and the resentments of changing the N5, N10 and N20 to coins, we had to go back to the drawing board and that was what has caused the delay. “According to him, the new smaller denominations will be in paper form with their features. “They will be on paper since we didn’t succeed in convincing Nigerians that those smaller denominations should be in coins. “But there will be a time in the future when we will all understand why they have to be coined. “But now, we are back to status quo ante; that is they will reappear in the old form that they were except that they are going to be in paper not polymer.” Lemo said that since 2009 the spending on printing of currency had been on the decline. He attributed that to the efficiency in distribution of the currency and printing of more of the higher denomination notes. “We used to spend N13 printing N1000 notes, if we had succeeded in printing N5,000 notes, we would have spent only N18; that meant that would have also reduced the cost of printing. “That was the message we were trying to transmit to Nigerians,” he added On the difference in the cost of printing in polymer and paper, he said that it was cheaper printing in polymer. “We would have spent less printing polymer because polymer substrate lasts four times longer than paper and it costs only 150 per cent more. “Unfortunately, whereas the substrate lasts four times longer, the ink fades pretty faster and so what’s the use of the substrate whose ink has faded and that was partly why we disengaged from polymer.” On the cashless policy, he said that there had been improvement in the use of electronic channels for money transactions in the country. Lemo said the volume of electronic fund transfer transactions were three times more than the volume of cheques. He added that N11 billion transactions were made through mobile payment last month, adding that more activity had been going on through the electronic channel unlike before. (NAN)/>

Pre-school crack dealer?! 4-year-old boy found with pockets full of cocaine and cash in school
Forget juice boxes and crayons. A Philadelphia preschooler came to
class with crack cocaine and cash, authorities said.
The 4-year-old boy showed his shocking contraband to another student
on Tuesday morning, who told a teacher, Philadelphia schools spokesman
Fernando Gallard told the Daily News.
"The teacher approached the pre-K student and asked him to empty out
his pockets, basically," Gallard said.
Out came $173 cash and eight dime bags.
"It looked like crack cocaine and cocaine powder," Gallard said.
The teacher seized the drugs and money and took the boy to see the
principal of the Thomas Mifflin School, who called police.
School officials evacuated the building, and a police K-9 unit swept
the classrooms before students were allowed to return.
The boy was transported to a hospital to make sure he hadn't ingested
any of the drugs.
The boy was OK, but police and school officials still wonder how a
young child got a hold of street drugs and a roll of bills.
Police were questioning the boy's uncle on Tuesday,CBS Philadelphia reported.
Authorities say the boy is a victim, not a pint-sized pusher.
Chief Inspector Cynthia Dorsey said the child didn't realize the
danger the drugs.
"It is something to play with," Dorsey told the TV station. "He showed
it to classmates."
Elementary students in the past have brought drugs and even a handgun
to school, Gallard said, but he can't remember any as young as the
boy.
He commended the classmate for notifying the teacher and said the
school and other service providers would follow up.
"Whatever the situation is that he has access to these items, we're
going to be able to provide support," Gallard said.

Miley Cyrus Offered $1m To Shoot Porn Movie
Miley Cyrus's saucy twerking has won her a very indecent proposal
after the former Disney star was offered to go one step further and
shoot a porn movie in return for a million dollars.
But the racy 20-year-old wouldn't have to get too down and dirty for
her pay cheque as adult film firm GameLink simply want the Wrecking
Ball singer to direct hardcore sex scenes for them.
The offer landed on Miley's desk offering her full 'creative control'.
The firm's vice president, Jeff Dillon, wrote to the We Can't Stop
singer:"[You've] become an empowered young woman that is unapologetic
about your lifestyle, especially when it comes to expressing your
sexuality … you are the ideal choice to show the world your vision as
an artist in the world of adult entertainment."
Alluding to Miley's spat with Irish singer Sinead O'Connor – who
dubbed Miley a pop prostitute – the firm added:"We at Gamelink feel
this gives you a chance to finally show the world you are not a little
girl anymore, and you won't bow to the pressures of the likes of
Sinead O'Connor, who is jealous of your success."

Jonathan did not ask us to look for Boko Haram leader, Shekau, Dialogue Committee chairman says
Festus Owete-3 mins ago
News
Kabiru Turaki said the panel has completed 99 per cent of its assignment.
The Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution of Security Challenges in the North, Kabiru Turaki, has said the panel was not given the mandate to look for the leader of the Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau, but to identify its members and dialogue with them.
Mr. Turaki also said the committee had almost completed its assignment and would soon submit its report to President Goodluck Jonathan.
The 26-member committee was set up in April to engage the Boko Haram sect, as part of the Federal Government’s proposed amnesty deal for the radical Islamic group.
Mr. Turaki, who is also the Minister of Special Duties, was speaking with journalists, on Tuesday, in Abuja, after briefing the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on the performance of the ministry since its creation six months ago.
“I think I will also ask you, where is Shekau? Now, with all sense of responsibility, we have been directed by Mr. President to identify key members of the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunnah Lil da’awati wal Jihad (Boko Haram) and then engage them in dialogue. Mr. President did not ask us to look for Shekau and engage him in dialogue,” he said.
Mr. Jonathan had during his recent media chat, told Nigerians that he did not know whether Mr. Shekau was dead or not. He was responding to the claim by the Joint Task Force sometime in August that the Boko Haram leader may have been killed.
Mr. Turaki added that it was important for Nigerians to understand that the committee could not immediately connect with the highest leadership.
“Usually what happens is that after that we have been able to establish confidence, because it is necessary, they now deploy the lower rank of their membership to us, like a water testing mechanism. They would come to us we will discuss with them, when they go back without any molestation then at the next meeting they would deploy a higher set of members.
“And this is how it has been going to the level where we now are, where we have started to engage key members of these insurgencies. But for us it does not have to be Shekau,” he explained.
The minister admitted that in the course of the panel’s assignment, it came across some fake members of the sect, who came purposely to obtain money from government, insisting that the people it was currently talking to were genuine Boko Haram members.
“Dialogue committee has laid solid foundation for sustainable peace to be achieved in Nigeria. Release of captives on the order of the president has also reduced the level of insurgency in Nigeria. The dialogue committee has achieved an advanced level of negotiation,” he insisted.
On when the panel would submit its report, Mr. Turaki said, “We have almost concluded our assignment; 99 percent has been concluded.
“In the next few days probably before the end of this week, we will finish the one percent. Then as soon as we do that, we will also inform Mr. President that we have finished and he will give us date and time to present the report.”
Constituency projects
The minister also disclosed that a total of N100 billion was budgeted each year for constituency projects, adding that this year alone the Ministry of Special Duties had identified over 2,399 of them.

Two friends win N8m by using N400 to play Bet9ja
Saheed Oniloyi and Olashile Ali had reasons to rejoice at the weekend
when they combined to win a total sum of N8m (Eight million naira)
with a N400 stake.
The close friends used their understanding of football bets to predict
the outcome of matches of some Europa league and some Italian football
league matches.
At the end of the Europa league matches on Thursday, their tickets
were confirmed and it revealed that they have emerged as the biggest
winners of the bet9ja game show.
In an interview after claiming his prize, Saheed Oniloyi claimed that
he was praying when someone beckoned on him that the game on his
ticket has sealed victory for him.
"I was praying when someone told me that the last team on my ticket
won their game. I was startled because I couldn't believe that my
fortune has changed. Now I am a millionaire though I have always been
very lucky in all my endeavour"
His friend and fellow winner of the jackpot prize Olashile Ali could
not express his joy when asked about his new financial status.
"I don't know what to say for now. I am just too happy and I cannot
tell it all until I sleep over it. It's a great day in my life"

Superiority Of The First Ten Days Of Dhul-Hijjah (Starting Today)
CrediblechamberOctober 6th, 2013 0 Comments »
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. May peace and
blessings be upon the Chief of the Messengers, Muhammad.
Indeed it is a great favour and blessing from Allah that He has made
for His righteous servants periods of time within which they can
increase in good deeds to attain great rewards and one of these
opportunistic periods is the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah (the final
month of the Islamic Calendar, in which the Hajj is performed).
Superiority of the First Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah
The excellence of these ten days have been mentioned in the Qur'an and
the Sunnah.
1. Allah says in the Qur'an:
"By the dawn and by the ten nights … " [Al-Qur'an 89:1-2]
Ibn Kathir said that "the ten nights" referred to here are the ten
days of Dhul-Hijjah, and this opinion was also held by Ibn Abbas, Ibn
az-Zubair, Mujahid and others.
2. The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said:
"There are no deeds as excellent as those done in these ten days."
They (the companions listening) said, "Not even Jihad?" He, peace be
upon him, said, "No, not even Jihad except a man who goes forth
endangering his life and wealth and does not return with anything."
[Recorded by Imam al-Bukhari]
3. Allah says:
" … and remember the name of Allah in the appointed days." [Al-Qur'an 2:203]
Ibn Abbas and Ibn Kathir said this means in the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah.
4. The Messenger of Allah, upon whom be peace, said:
"There are no other days that are as great as these in the sight of
Allah, the Most Sublime. Nor are there any deeds more beloved to Allah
then those that are done in these ten days. So increase in tahlil (to
say la illaha illallah), takbir (to say allahu akbar) and tahmid (to
say alhumdulillah)." [Reported by at-Tabarani in al-Mu'jum al-Kabir]
5. With regards to the noble companion Sa'id bin Jubair, when the days
of Dhul-Hijjah began he would strive to increase in good actions with
great intensity until he was unable to increase anymore. [Reported by
ad-Darimi]
6. Ibn Hajar says in Fath al-Bari:
"The most apparent reason for the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah being
distinguished in excellence is due to the assembly of the greatest
acts of worship in this period, i.e. salawat (prayers), siyam
(fasting), sadaqah (charity) and the Hajj (pilgrimage). In no other
periods do these great deeds combine."
What are the Recommended Acts in these Days?
1. Prayer – It is highly recommended to perform the obligatory acts at
their prescribed times (as early as possible) and to increase oneself
in the superogatory acts, for indeed, this is what brings a person
closer to their Lord. The Messenger of Allah, upon whom be peace,
said:
"Upon you is to increase in your prostration to Allah, for verily you
do not prostrate to Allah with even one prostration, except that He
raises you in degrees and decreases your sins because of it."
[Reported by Muslim]
2. Fasting – This has been mentioned as one of the acts of
righteousness where Hanbada ibn Khalid reports on the authority of his
wife who reports that some of the wives of the Prophet, peace be upon
him, said, "The Prophet, upon whom be peace, would fast on the ninth
of Dhul-Hijjah, the day of Ashura and three days in every month."
[Recorded by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, an-Nisa'i and others]
Imam an-Nawawi said that fasting in these ten days is extremely recommended.
3. Saying allahu akbar, la illaha illallah and alhamdulillah – It is
found in the aforementioned narration of Ibn 'Umar:
"So increase yourselves in saying la illaha illallah, allahu akbar and
alhamdulillah."
Imam al-Bukhari, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
"Ibn 'Umar and Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with them both, used
to go out to the markets in the ten days saying the takbir causing the
people to follow them in this action."
He also said:
"'Umar ibn al-Khattab used to say the takbir in his mimbar in Mina,
whereupon the people of the mosque hearing 'Umar, would start to say
the takbir as would the people in the markets until the whole of Mina
was locked in glorifying Allah."
Ibn 'Umar used to say the takbir in Mina during these ten days and
after prayers, whilst on his bed, in his tent, in his gathering and
whilst walking. What is recommended is to say the takbir aloud due to
the fact that 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, his son and Abu Hurayrah used to
do likewise, may Allah be pleased with them all.
Strive with us O Muslims in reviving this sunnah that has become lost
in these times and it was almost forgotten, even amongst the people of
righteousness and goodness all of which is unfortunately in opposition
to what the best of generations were upon (preserving and maintaining
the superogatory acts).
There are a number of ways of making takbir that have been narrated by
the companions and their followers and from these ways is the
following:

There are a number of ways of making takbir that have been narrated by
the companions and their followers and from these ways is the
following:

“I am not going to get too excited”– Moyes remains cautious despite Sunderland win
Manchester United manager David Moyes has refused to get excited,
despite watching his side fight back to claim a 2-1 victory over
Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
Belgian wonderkid Adnan Januzaj grabbed a brace to cancel out Craig
Gardner's 5th minute strike, to ensure United moved up into the top
half of the Premier League table.
"I thought we played well with the exception of the opening five or 10
minutes. I am pleased we have won, I am not going to get too excited.
At the moment we scored, we needed it but I wasn't getting too low. I
thought it was exciting and I enjoyed it today," Moyes said.
Speaking about Januzaj, he said:"He is a wonderful player, he is
someone who we think a lot of. I have tried to get him in the team
over the last few weeks but for various reasons it did not happen.
"He is a really good player, he can do most things and play in lots of
different positions. He is a real talent. I gave Wayne Rooney and Ross
Barkley their debuts at Everton and he is certainly in their category
too."

Don’t judge me: Chris Brown opens up on Rihanna… and losing his virginity at age 8
Chris Brown had his first sexual experience long before he was even a
teenager, he revealed.
The R&B star said that he lost his virginity when he was just 8 years
old to a girl in his hometown of Tappahannock, Virginia.
"It's different in the country," he joked in an interview with the
Guardian. "By that point, we were already kind of like hot to trot,
you know what I'm saying? Like, girls, we weren't afraid to talk to
them; I wasn't afraid."
"So, at eight, being able to do it, it kind of preps you for the long
run, so you can be a beast at it," he continued. "You can be the best
at it."
"You know how Prince has a lot of girls back in the day? Prince was,
like, the guy," Brown said. "I'm just that, today. But most women
won't have any complaints if they've been with me. They can't really
complain. It's all good."
The 24-year-old singer also spoke about "the Rihanna incident,"
referring to his violent attack on his then girlfriend in 2009,
describing it as "probably the biggest wake-up call for me."
"I had to stop acting like a teenager, a crazy, wild young guy," Brown
said. "I learned from it, and it was almost like…I wouldn't say it
happened for a reason, but it was something to trigger my mind to be
more of a mature adult. To handle myself in situations, don' throw
tantrums, don't be a baby about it."
