Jay Jay Okocha celebrates wife’s 40th birthday, gives her G-Wagon as present

Nigerian football legend Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, celebrated his wife of of 16 years, Nkechi Okocha’s 40th birthday with a lavish party thrown on Friday October 25th at Civic Centre in Lagos

. Maestromediareports that Okocha gave his wife a brand new White Mercedez Benz G-Wagon SUV as birthday present.

Nkechi was said to have gone down on her knees to thank her husband for all his love and support in front of the party guests.

PHOTOS: David Beckham Crashes His N16m Range Rover

David Beckham suffered a car accident, as he pulled out of his Beverly Hills home in Los Angeles, USA.

The ex-England football captain, 38, was allegedly driving his black Range Rover Sport with his son Brooklyn, 14, in the front passenger seat when the collision reportedly occurred at 2.30 p.m. on October 25, 2013, Friday.

According to eyewitnesses, the former football star pulled out of his driveway and hit an oncoming car being driven by a woman.

David reportedly reversed back into his drive way and waited within his residence before police arrived to question him and the witnesses about the incident.

Damage was clearly visible on the white Acura 4×4, as well as David’s expensive Range Rover Sport, where the bumper was hanging off the front.

The former sports star bought this car in 2010 which is estimated to be worth N16m.

Ogun State Gives₦2 Million To Ailing Veteran Actor, Pa Kasumu

The Ogun State Government, week-end, donated N2 million to ailing Nollywood actor, Mr. Kayode Odumosu, popularly called Pa Kasumu, for his medical treatment.

Assistant to the State Government, Mr. Taiwo Adeoluwa, who made the donation with respect to the federal government, claimed Governor Ibikunle Amosun was moved when he discovered the condition of the actor and decided to give the lifeline. Continue...

Adeoluwa said in Lagos:“There is number formal demand for support from the Governor of Ogun State. Like every one otherwise, we heard about Pa Kasumu's vomiting on the television.“The governor told us to move and find out his exact state of health. It was throughout the investigation that people found that he is from Ogun State.“We discovered you are from Odogbolu Regional Government Area. The governor didn't even know you are one of us.”

FUTA Students Win ISPON 2013 Software Cup

Oladapo Oluwadora Glory, Aboluwarin Olaluwa David and Banjo Mofesola Paul of the Federal University of Technology FUTA , Akure have won ISPON software cup 2013, they were among the 70 students from the Nigerian higher educational institutions that competed in the 2013 Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria, ISPON national software conference and competition holding in Tinapa Business Resort, Calabar, Cross Rivers to win Software Innovation price.

Vanguard checks revealed that twenty one schools including Usman Danfodiyo, Federal University of Technology, Akure, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, University of Benin, Delta State University, Anambra State University, uli, Federal Polytechnic, Okoh, Niger Delta University, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Uyo City University, Covernany University, Ajayi Crowther University, Obafemi Awolowo University ,Ile Ife among others are participating in the national software contest hosted by the Cross Rivers State government for three years running.

However, 24 teams in different categories including mobile app, web app, desktop app, and mobile game battled to win software innovation price sponsored by Main One, Nigerian Communications Commission, NEXIM Bank, NITDA among others.

At the event that attracted key industry stakeholders and university Vice Chancellors, participants among other things discussed how best software strategies can help retool the workforce.

Earlier in his opening speech on Monday, the Governor of the Cross Rivers, Senator Liyel Imoke said with optimism that future belongs to the competing students. According to him, there was need to review Nigerian educational curriculum to match global standard.

While urging the students to use the tools and knowledge in their hands to contribute to the economic development of the country, he said that Cross Rivers State was well positioned for IT hub in Nigeria.

“How the winners will contribute to local economy is the next challenge. In this conference, we have the future of the country. We have the capacity. We can drive knowledge economy with right policies. The students in the software competition here are entrepreneurs of the future. Your destiny lies in your hands” he said.

For the ISPON President, Chris Uwaje, unless the workforce were retooled with local software, the challenge of the knowledge society may not be resolved. According to him, there was need to retool the workforce with innovative sofTware strategies for national survivability.
