Two arrested for abducting 15-year-old female student
The Vigilance Service of Ogun State has arrested two suspects -Gbenga Adesanya and Sodiq Osanyintola- for allegedly abducting a 15-year-old female secondary school student, Kehinde Owoniko, in Abeokuta, the state capital. The VSO also claimed that the third suspect, Oye Atunbi, escaped arrest and is currently on the run. One shot gun and 11 fake identity cards were allegedly recovered from the suspects. PUNCH Metrogathered that the suspects allegedly abducted Owoniko, a senior secondary school 1 student of Egba High School, Asero, Abeokuta, at gun point when she went to ease herself in the bush behind the school premises. The suspects also allegedly made incisions on the victim’s wrist and chest with a razor blade, before applying some “black powder” on the injury, in an attempt to hypnotise her. Owoniko was later bundled into a car conveying two other victims earlier abducted by the gang. Before driving the victims away to an unknown destination, the suspects were said to have taken the telephone numbers of their parents. Although, the suspects allegedly contacted the parents of the two other victims, Owoniko’s mother’s was said to be unreachable. The parents of the two other victims earlier abducted were said to have contacted the alleged abductors and paid an unspecified amount of money as ransom to secure the release of their children as well as Owoniko. Upon their release, Owoniko allegedly found her way home around 9pm and narrated her ordeal to her already worried parents. The next day, Owoniko’s family lodged a complaint with the VSO whose operatives later stormed the hideout of the hoodlums and arrested the two suspects. Confirming the development, VSO Public Relations Officer, Soji Gamzallo, said, “The girl was tortured. A blade was used to make incision on her wrist and chest and black powder was rubbed into the wounds. A report was later made by the father of the victim at our office. “The victim was eventually brought today and she confirmed the report of her parents.” The VSO spokesman added that after its investigation, the VSO had transferred the suspects to the police in the state for prosecution. Recalling her ordeal, Owoniko said, “I went to the bush to relieve myself during the break time in the school. All of a sudden, two armed men grabbed me and ordered me to cooperate. “They later forced incision on my arm and chest, rubbed it with black power, before transferring me into a waiting car, where I found two other victims. They asked for our parents’ telephone numbers and took off to another hideout. “At the hideout, they called my mother’s telephone but it was not available, while the parents of other victims were contacted. The parents of those ones later came and paid them some amount. They included me and we were later released.”
